1- Find a place in the backyard which is high and flat. The reason for a high place is it will help you during rain. It will keep the sleeping bags and the tent itself from getting wet inside.

Similarly, a flat, even ground will allow you to pitch the tent with ease. An uneven ground makes the entire task quite demanding.

2- The thing you need to do is place a ground cloth or trap. This can easily be purchased very cheap. This essential gear comes in real handy. You can use it for keeping the tent dry when its wet.

Also, if there are any rocks or things that can damage the tent, a ground cloth it will protect it. It will also make the surface a little more comfortable for you.

3- If the tent has some stacks, its best you use them on all sides. Use a hard rock or if you have a hammer, force the stacks in the ground. The stack comes in use for keeping the tent in its place when its windy. Also, the tent will stay in its place and not move about.

4- The tent also comes with an instruction guide. Follow the instructions given in the guide to see how you can build the tent. Practice a few times before you go to the wilderness.

There are different types of tents for different types of weather conditions, climates and scenarios. For instance, if you are going camping in the winters, get yourself a four-season tent. You can use this is the winters with great ease.

You also should know how many people you will be camping with. If its for you and your partner then you will need a bigger tent than one that is enough for one person.

Also, there are tents that have flaps in between for those who need their privacy when camping with a group of people.

One more thing you should be careful about is purchasing a tent ground cloth that is durable and will be beneficial when it comes to protecting it from rips, damage and/or tear.
